If you just want to know how much it's going to cost, you can click
on the tariff link to the left. However, don't forget to come
back to this
page, because there's some fairly important stuff here. There is also
some general guidance to give you an idea of how we work, and
what
you can expect to get for your money.
First, some general matters.
Please note that we provide
cars for weddings - that's all. If you are looking for a car for any
other special occasion, please read "What we do".
All cars are driven by uniformed chauffeur.
Ribbons will normally be supplied in white, ivory, or cream. Other
colours may be obtained by special request, or provided by the hirer,
so please speak to us if you have any particular requirements. A sample
of the above colours can be provided on request.
A display of silk flowers is provided in the rear window where
possible. Bubbles has no suitable shelf,
and therefore may have a posy where the ribbons meet, or just a bow.
Having had years of practice to determine the best way of decorating
these cars, you can be confident that each car will be beautifully
presented. However, please feel free to ask for more information if you
wish.
The open top cars (vintage & replica vintage models) may be
driven with the hood up or down, and with or without side-screens. You
may prefer some protection on the way to the church to ensure that the
bride arrives with dress and hair-do intact, and then have the hood
lowered for photographs and the journey to the reception. We will be
pleased to accommodate your preferences, give advice, or use our
discretion as required.
While we have no objection to confetti, other forms of “decoration”
(i.e. tin cans, shaving foam etc.) are not permitted We expect these
very special vehicles to be treated with the respect that they deserve.
Important
Note. You should be aware that some of our cars are not
fitted with seatbelts.
Due to their age, this is, of course, perfectly legal, but recent
changes in legislation result in significant restrictions on the
carrying of young children in such cars. Therefore you
must tell us if you wish us to carry any children who will be aged
under 3 at the time of the wedding. Clearly, we can only
carry young children if it is both safe and legal to do so.
When completing the journey schedule, please allow a little more time
for the older cars ... in any case, we don't want to have to rush about
... it's undignified! Please telephone for guidance if
necessary. If some details of the schedule have yet to be decided,
please give rough parameters to enable a block of time to be booked,
and the rest can be completed later. For your peace of mind, it is our
normal aim that the car(s) should arrive at the first pick up point
about ten minutes before the stated journey time.
If an additional journey is required for bridesmaids etc., this will
normally be accommodated without extra charge, subject to distance and
the suitability of the car (see above note regarding seatbelts).
However, many hirers prefer to use a different car for this purpose to
maximise the impact upon the arrival of the bride.
The maximum numbers of passengers for each car is shown on the tariff
table. Assuming
that the distance is not too great, we are happy to do more than one
journey if required, but please do not ask us to exceed these numbers,
as to do so invalidates insurance cover.
Please advise us of any special factors such as passengers with
disabilities, or traffic wardens with a nasty disposition. We will
endeavour to accommodate all with professionalism and good humour.
Payment. A deposit (£50 for first car plus £25 for each
additional car) is payable at the time of booking. The balance of hire
monies is payable one month before the hire date. In the event of
cancellation, the deposit is not refundable, although consideration
will be given to a partial refund if the car can subsequently be hired
elsewhere. If cancellation takes place less than one month before the
date of the booking (or if you fail to notify us of cancellation), then
the whole amount will be deemed payable (I don't know why I wrote this
... it's not like I'm going to send the boys round ... but please don't
forget to let me know if there is any change to your plans).
Arrangements can be made to accept payment by instalments during the
period leading up to the wedding if this is of help to you. Please make
cheques payable to Rye
Classics and post to Long Walk Cottage,
Broadway, Fairlight, East Sussex, TN35 4DA.
Substitution. In the unlikely event that your chosen
car, for reasons outside our control, is unfit for use on the day, the
liability of Rye Classics will not extend beyond a full refund of all
monies paid to us. We will, however, make every effort to arrange a
suitable substitute with the hirer’s agreement.
Now, if you haven't already done so, you'd better have a look at the tariff.
